White corn, however, is not like the sweet dent corn we are used to seeing in the supermarket. It has a hard outer shell and a soft powder on the inside. High in calcium, it can be ground down into a flour to meet many culinary needs. To do this grinding a grinding stone was traditionally used. Climate Change Bundle.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The following grinding stone resource was shared with QUILLS by&nbsp;Kahehtok:tha Knowledge Keeper Janice Brant who sits with the Bear Clan in the&nbsp;Kanyen&#8217;keh\u00e1:ka&nbsp;Mohawk Nation of the Rotinonhsyon:ni Six Nations.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Students watch the movie (<a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/11xiHchjxg7YOU76buKglTxHpmJwFh27a\/view\">https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/11xiHchjxg7YOU76buKglTxHpmJwFh27a\/view<\/a>)&nbsp;and review the text resource (in the&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/elbowlakecentre.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Grinding-Stone-Booklet-.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Grinding Stone Booklet.pdf<\/a>)<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In a Talking circle (see Teacher\u2019s Guide for facilitation protocols) the class answers the following questions:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>What purpose does the grinding stone serve?&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What are some ways in which the grinding stone is cared for (as shown in the video?)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How do these practices reflect the importance of reciprocity in Indigenous ways of knowing and being?&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Based on the video how are traditional Indigenous tools still relevant to people\u2019s lives today?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Students reflect on the following questions in an exit ticket or other reflective writing piece.&nbsp;In Western culture things are made to be broken ie: to fuel capitalism.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>What is the impact of this relationship on the natural world?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"color:
