Looking forward to the 2014 Elbow Lake Open House on May 25, from 10 am to 3 pm!
Our annual Open House on Sunday, May 25 is fast approaching, and promises to be a fun-filled day of activity! Queen’s University Biological Station staff and representatives from the Nature Conservancy of Canada are looking forward to showcasing the Elbow Lake property – a true biodiversity hotspot – and giving you a taste of what the Education Centre has to offer through our educational programming, environmental activities and unique facility. There will be something for everyone at Open House:
- Experience the natural heritage of the Frontenac Arch Natural Area on a guided paddle with Nature Conservancy of Canada staff.
- Learn about the fascinating research taking place on the Elbow Lake property through an interpretive hike led by a Queen’s University researcher.
- Check out our collection of wildlife specimens and discover the interesting behavioural and physical adaptations of animals to their environment.
- Pull on a pair of chest waders and experience seine netting for sampling the diversity of aquatic life in Elbow Lake.
- Find out how the Education Centre can meet the needs of your next workshop, conference or group retreat.
- Enjoy games and eco-activities with Eco-Adventure Camp counsellors and register for a camp session this summer.
- Celebrate with us as we unveil our stunning new logo.
- Honour the people who made the Elbow Lake Environmental Education Centre possible at a dedication ceremony.
- Venture out to explore 8 km of moderately rugged hiking trail and find out for yourself why the Elbow Lake property is second to none!
Gates will be open and activities will be running from 10 am to 3 pm. We hope to see you there!
