Microplastics: The problem, sources, and what you can do to help

In the last few decades, plastic pollution has become a problem facing the world’s marine and aquatic ecosystems. It is estimated that 8 million tonnes of plastics enter the oceans each year, and that by 2050, the weight of marine plastic will exceed that of fish. This talk will explore microplastics and their sources, their effects on ecosystems and wildlife, and what you can do to minimize your use of plastic. Presented by Lydia Johnson and Natasha Neves, Queen’s University. This event will be held over Zoom.
